Miss Belle R. Cross--Miss Belle R. Cross, aged 28 years, a niece of Mrs. John S. Gittings, died at the city residence of her aunt, St. Paul street and Mt. Vernon Square, Baltimore, on the 18th inst. after a short sickness of peritonitis. Miss Cross was prominent in Baltimore society and a beautiful and accomplished young lady. She was the daughter of William R. Cross and a granddaughter of Thomas Ritchie, of Richmond, Va., the well-known Democratic editor.  Her parents reside in Washington, D.C., but she had been living for a long time with Mrs. Gittings, who is a sister of Miss Cross' mother.  She was an accomplished horsewoman and took great delight in the Elk Ridge hunts.

Her funeral took place from St. Paul's P.E. Church on Monday, 21st inst. The large Church was crowded with friends of the deceased and many stood in the aisles.  Rev. Dr. J.S.B. Hodges conducted the services, assisted by Revs. Mr. Harding and Lewis. The service for the dead was intoned by the choir composed of altar boys.

There was a very large collection of beautiful flowers, the contributions of loving friends, which almost filled the chancel and sent their rich perfume throughout the church. There was also numerous flowers not brought into the church, but taken to the grave.

Upon conclusion of the services, the remains were borne to Greenmount Cemetery, where the services were concluded, the following gentlemen acting as pall-bearers: Dr. P. Bryson Wood, Messrs. D.B. Merryman, Henry Morris, W.S.G. Williams, Winslow Williams, Jos. H. Voss, Carey McHenry, Frank P. Howard.

George M. Gill--George M. Gill, the oldest member by admission to the bar of Maryland, died suddenly on the steps leading to his office St. Paul street, on Friday morning ??th inst., aged 85 years, from paralysis of the heart superinduced by acute indigestion. Mr. Gill was a man of remarkable vigor of mind and body, and literally died with the harness on. When not prevented by ill health he was always to be found at his office.  On the morning of his death he left his residence and proceeded to his office by a blue-line car. As he was about to go into his office he was noticed by some friends as being feeble.  They assisted him to his office, and when attempting to ascend the steps he sank and died in about half an hour.

No member of the bar in Maryland stood higher in integrity of character than Mr. Gill, and he was an honor to the profession.  He enjoyed an extensive practice, being regarded as one of the safest cousellors at the bar. In his long life he enjoyed the confidence of his fellow citizens in many places of trust and honor. He was a Democrat of the strictest school, but he never aspired to political position, though during the term of Judge Brown as Mayor Mr. Gill was City Counsellor.  He was also a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1867. He had also been a director in the Northern Central and also the Western Maryland Railroad.

Mr. Gill was twice married, his first wife being Miss Ann W. McElderry, and the second, who survives him, Miss Ann McKinn Bowly. Mr. Gill leaves one son, Mr. John Gill, a member of the bar, and six daughters.. Mrs. Anne Brown, who died in October last, and was the wife of Gen. Stewart Brown, was a daughter of Mr. Gill by his first wife.

Mr. Gill left a large estate which he managed himself.

Edwin Reese--Edwin Reese, a son of Dr. Wm. S. Reese and one of the most promising young men of Baltimore, died at his residence, Charles street, on the 22nd inst. of typhoid fever.
